Setting you pages' meta data

'Meta data' is content that search engines will see when they crawl you site. Well written meta data will help your site to rank higher in search engines and give potential visitors more information about your site when they see you in a search engine.

There are two important pieces of meta data for each page:

  1. the page's title
  2. the page's description

People will see your title and description when your site appears in search engine results:

It's important to make sure that you provide a unique title and description for every page on your site as search engines will penalise you for having more than one page with the same title and description.

To set your title and description for each page, open the Page meta data area:

Try to stay within the recommended character limit or you will find your text is truncated by search engines (as in this example).
